Manuel Herrera-Usagre holds a Ph.D. in Sociology of Culture and Arts, a double Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Sociology, and an Official Master's Degree in Social Programmes Management.
He has over 15 years of experience in R&D project participation and management and more than five years working with the European Reference Networks in Rare Diseases of the European Commission.
His more than 13 years of experience in healthcare quality research and policy evaluations of European countries have deeply enriched his understanding of policy-making. He has contributed to numerous scientific reports and policy papers, and published over 40 journal articles and other scientific works.
Now, he lectures in the Department of Sociology at the University of Sevilla in Spain and serves as an Independent Expert for the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) of the European Commission.
Since 2006, Dr. Herrera-Usagre has been working as a commissioned artist under the pseudonym of tazzista (tazzista.art). He has produced songs for and collaborated with various acclaimed artists and collectives, including contemporary professional dancer and professor Laila Tafur, composer and performer Raphäel Wildemann, photographer DDO, and podcaster and brand strategist Brooke Estin, among many others. In addition to his music, Dr. Herrera-Usagre has also created paintings and illustrations.
Every digital art collection he has published has a central theme and involves in-depth research. His work addresses fundamental human, sociological, and philosophical questions using a combination of artistic and scientific approaches. His pieces have been reviewed by the Museum of Contemporary Digital Art (MoCDA) and selected for numerous exhibitions, galleries, and web3 conferences, including, but not limited to, TIME Magazine, Superchief Gallery (NYC), NFT Factory Gallery (Paris), NFT Paris Conference 2023, NFC Conference in Lisbon 2023, and NFT.NYC 2024 in New York.
